Intellidance (coming Fall 2008)
Human beings are born with the instinct to express themselves though movement. Even before he could communicate through words, primitive man was dancing to the beat of his own heart.
Robert La Fosse
Intellidance is a series of creative dance programs, created to foster critical development in children ages of 0-5. Research shows that dance and movement activities offered in a loving, safe, multi-sensory environment are key to life long learning and neural development.
The Intellidance programs recognize that there are many facets to early development, provide programming that supports multiple-intelligences, and a holistic approach finding balance in mental, physical, and emotional health. The programs strive to deepen the child-caregiver bond in a fun and free environment, using a concept based vocabulary that is easily transferred to everyday experiences. programs identify that children learn best when engaged in developmentally appropriate activities, based on fun, movement, song, rhyme, imagination, and play, allowing for freedom of expression. We want caregivers and children in our classes to explore and learn new concepts while sharing the joy of dance and movement together!
Intelli-Babies (ages 6 weeks to pre-mobile)
Come and learn how dance and movement can nurture early neural development, while strengthening the caregiver-baby bond.
Each week caregivers will learn new dance concepts through fun body shapes, movement patterns, folk dances, free exploration, songs, and rhymes, that help foster your baby’s cognitive, emotional, and physical health, while engaging in gentle physical activity.
Caregivers will delight in watching their little ones grow and learn while making friends and socializing with others.
Intelli-Tots (mobile babies - 2 years)
Intelli-Tots offers a more lively and active environment, perfect for toddlers who are cruising at their own pace, but not quite ready to walk independently.
Through fun movement exploration with their caregiver and others, this class will help your tot build confidence and interpersonal skills in a safe, social setting.
Scarves, balls, hoops, silly rhythms, songs, and dances will bring this multi-sensory experience to a new level of fun! Tots will continue to explore contrasting movement concepts to aide in everyday communication and expression.
Intelli-Kids (ages 2-5, must be walking independently)
Intelli-Kids offers a creative environment for independent movers and their caregivers, to experience the joy of dance and movement together.
Kids love to figure things out, and this class will provide opportunities to problem solve together through movement, while gaining balance, flexibility, and coordination, and promotes a physically active lifestyle.
Animated story telling, world dance and music, instrumentation, props, and simple choreography will add appropriate challenge and interest to this expressive class. Kids will explore movement concepts and continue their dance education.
